Take stock of everything in your office. You might be surprised to find how little you use a lot of it. So you don’t need immediate access to it. The first step in successful decluttering is to get rid of the things you don’t need on a daily basis.

Discard unused items

Set aside a box to fill with items you no longer need. Broken items, outdated items, expired items, for example. Take them to the trash, put them to be recycled, or donate them.

Organise item zones

After completing those two steps, your office probably looks or feels a little better. The next step is to organise what remains. Create zones for each category of items. User manuals, office supplies, reference books, samples, records, etc. Store all related items together to make retrieval faster and easier. Use a system that is intuitive to you, like alphabetical, numbering, colours, closer-to-farthest from the door, etc., whatever works.

Label

Clearly label each area of storage, and/or the categories of items in a storage area. This makes it quick and easy to identify what you’re looking for when you need it. Being able to tell at a glance is much more efficient than rifling through a haphazard pile.
